Delegates from the Twp. Boards were present: Alpena, Mr. Loomis; Center, Theo. Dean; Pleasant valley, B. R. Shimp; Wessington Springs, Mr. Hawthorne; Lincoln, L. F. Daniels; Viola, Fred. Kieser; Anina, A. D. Cady; Mr. R. Y. Hazard having been chosen chairman, and B. R. Shimp, sec. The committee of W. C. T. U., consisting of Mesdames Hall, Smart, Spears, Albert and others were requested to make known their wishes, whereupon a petition with several hundred signatures was presented asking that "Elementary Temperance Lessons for the Young," and Steele's Hygenic Physiology first and second books be adopted, accompanied by an able address by Mrs. Dr. Hall. The books were adopted. A resolution to adopt a uniform system of text books was passed. A motion to adopt Swinton's Readers was lost. Finally, the following books were adopted, viz.: Robinson's Arithmetic; Swinton's Geography; Harvey's Grammar, Ridpath's History, and McGuffey's Readers and Spellers. A motion carried to make the above selections unanimous and to recommend absent boards to adopt the same. A vote of thanks was tendered the ladies for their presence, and their determined efforts in the cause of temperance. Adjourned. R. Y. Hazard, Chairman B. R.
