Division J – Plants and Flowers Mrs. B. G. Cummings, winter bouquet, 1st; collection house plants, 1st; exhibition best attraction to hall, 1st. Mrs. Pierce, bouquet natural flowers, 1st. Special Premiums. The premium offered by P. R. Barrett for handsome baby 1 year old or under was taken by Mrs. W. P. Dixson and Mrs. R. H. Chase. Premium of H. J. Wallace offered for best yoke of oxen was taken by L. Russell. Premium of N. D. Wilder of a new hat to the person telling the biggest lie was awarded to C. W. Hill for the statement "That the display of the Jerauld County Fair all things considered could be best by any county in the Territory." Mr. Hill took the chapeau without any further competition. The premium offered by C. W. McDonald for best 2 loaves of bread made by girl under 12 years of age was taken by Maud Spears, 9 years of age. Very few women, if any, can make as good bread as did little Maud at her first attempt. The premiums offered by H. T. Stewart for guessing the No. of beans in a jar was taken by Mrs. M. J. Prine 1st, Mrs. S. H. Albert, 2d. Premium of W. I. Bateman of a $10 share in the society for the homliest man in the county was awarded to President O. G. Woodruff with the following certificate signed by the judges; "Owing to the fact that W. I. Bateman did not enter his name for the premium offered by himself for the homliest man in the county we are compelled to award the same to O. G. Woodruff.
