There was quite a number of voters present, in spite of the unpleasant weather, who were addressed in a very pleasant and effective manner by Mrs. N. C. Hall. After repeated calls, Sheriff Spears took the floor and made a rousing good speech in opposition to bringing saloons into Jerauld county. It would make more arrests necessary, increase litigation, fill up the jail, and thus make his business lively, but our sheriff is a man of too much principle to be willing to fill his pockets at the expense of saloon victims.
