Wessington Springs Herald July 15, 1887
The School Board elect, of Wessington Springs twp., met at Mr. Tarbles' on July
12th, and organized according to the new school law. Members elect are: L. H.
Tarble, J. E. White, K. S. Starkey, M. A. McCune, Mrs. N. C. Hall, and G. R.
Bateman, treasurer. L. H. Tarble was chosen chairman and A. M. Mathias, clerk.
The township was divided into six sub-districts, so as to give the NE-part the
benefit of a school, they having the requisite number of scholars. After
transacting some routine business, the board adjourned, subject to the call of
the chairman.
