O. C. Ord Post No. 29, G. A. R. held at Wessington Springs Jerauld county Dak., on the 29 day of June 1889. The following Resolutions were adopted. Whereas, Death the inevitable, has removed from our Post, Alfred L. Eager an honored member of our Order who died at his home in Jerauld county Dak., on the 9th day of June 1889. Therefor be it Resolved, that in the death of Comrade Alfred L. Eager, the Nation has lost one of its loyal veteran defenders; his family a kind father; the county an intelligent and upright citizen, and our order an honored member. Resolved, that in Comrade Alfred Eager we recognized one of that noble type of American manhood, who, a quarter of a century ago, when the Union was in imminent peril, laid aside the pursuits of peace and happiness and voluntarily went down under the old flag into that contest which ended in the one being unsevered and regenerated and the other unsullied and victorious. Resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be published and a copy thereof sent to the family and relatives of the deceased, and that the members of the post wear the usual badge of mourning for the period of 30 days.
