H. Tarble landlord and proprietor of the Wessington Springs House passed quietly away. He leaves a wife and a host of friends to mourn his departure. He was a native of Vermont and 53 years of age last September. He came to Wessington Springs early in 1883, and in company with Mr. Woodburn built the hotel which was opened to the public on July 4th of that year. The hotel was the second building on the townsite. In 1884 Messrs Woodburn and Tarble dissolved partnership, Mr. Tarble continuing the business. He was a live energetic business man, and did more to boom the town than any other citizen, the townsite proprietors not excepted. He was honored and respected by all who knew him. Gave liberally to all worthy enterprises and possessed that spirit of "charity that covereth a multitude of sins." Alvah Sturgis will accompany the remains to Gudlow, Vt. starting Monday next.
