At the entrance of Lake Herman State Park is a log cabin and a 
tiny family cemetery. It is located one mile south, two miles west 
and one half mile southwest of Madison, South Dakota, in Herman 
township, Section 11. Herman Luce, one of the first Euro-American 
pioneers in Lake County settled on this property and built the log cabin.
