Bracy to Read Services Wednesday Ray Phillips well-known longtime Madison resident died about 10 p.m. Saturday at his home, corner Center St. W. and Blanche Ave., following a lingering illness. He was 53 years old. A native of Moody county, Milton Ray Phillips was born April 25, 1888, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Phillips, Moody county farmers. He was married to Myrtle Dixon of Madison in Sioux Falls on November 30, 1914, and they had one child, Daryle, who died May 2, 1922. Mr. Phillips spent a large part of his life in Madison where he engaged in the restaurant business for many years. He also operated restaurants in Iowa and spent several years farming north of Flandreau. Leaving the farm on account of poor health, which dates back to 1936, Mr. Phillips and his wife moved back to Madison in 1938, where Mr. Phillips opened up a package liquor store on Egan Ave. N., which he operated at the time of his death. He was a member of Madison Lodge No. 1442 B.P.O. Elks. Surviving relatives include the widow, two brothers, George Phillips, Fargo N.D., and Dell Phillips, Canby, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Eunice Morgan, Sioux Falls, and Mrs. Effie Harwood, Cordova, Alaska. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hallenbeck's funeral home where the body is now lying. Rev. C. C. Bracy will conduct the final rites. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery beside the graves of his son and father, who died in 1923 at the age of 84.
