If you arrived here inside a frame or from a link from somewhere else, our front door is at http://www.usgwarchives.net/sd/sdfiles.htm Location: The cemetery is located in Cleveland Township, McPherson County, S.D., Northwest Quarter of Section 19, Township 125 North, Range 71 West of the Fifth Principal Meridian. (About 4 miles east and 2 miles south of Hillsview, S.D.) The cemetery is located on the east side of a "section road" (an unpaved grassy lane) not more than about a quarter of a mile south of the road. A map is included in the Rieger Family Tree (Del Paulson, editor, DPaul60910@aol.com). Nearby Churches: The 1911 Hillsview Township plat map indicates there was a church directly across the section road in the Northeast Quarter of Section 24. Another church was also located about a half mile to the west in Section 13. Neither church building still stands. About a mile south of Hillsview, there is a Catholic cemetery with quite a few head stones. Description: The cemetery is rectangular in shape, with the long side running north and south. If my pacing was anywhere near accurate, the cemetery is about 175 feet long and about 45 feet wide. The cemetery is fenced in, and there is a gate on the west side about 70 feet from the north boundary. The cemetery, situated near the top of a small hill, was unmowed, and had a bush in the northwest corner. The fence appeared in good condition. Grave markers: Only 5 headstones were found, as follows. Surname First name Dates Notes Aman Jacob H. 1874 - 1911 Aman Jopien 1929 - 1933 Hand carved, grave has stone border Bacih? Barih? M?
