The Rev. Carroll D. Erskine officiated. Mrs George Malcolm presided at the organ,and the following church youth quartette,DeElda Woodle,Bladon Cruickshank,Karen Denu and Valorie Cox sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "No Night There," and "Rock of Ages." The pallbearers were Clarence Johnson,LeRoy and Clayton Thompson,Charles Rose,Freeman Hanson, and Donald Philippar.Internment was in Bear Butte cemetery under the direction of the F. O. Jolley Funeral home. The Sturgis W.C.T.U. attended the service in a body and occupied special pews in a reserved section. Ida Mae Rupe daughter of Reason and Malinda Rupe was born in Centerville,Ia. September 15 1873. They came to the Black Hills in 1882,and settled in Pleasant Valley.In July 1894 she was married to Thomas Henry Cooper,who preceded her in death,october 13 1935. Eight children survie:two sons henry Neil an Carroll D. Cooper,of Sturgis; and six daughters.Mrs.Madge Robinson.Lakeport,Calif;Mrs.Susie Gillespie,Lead;Rene,Maud and May of Sturgis;and Mrs.June Johnson,of Bear Butte Valley.There are fifteen grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.Three sisters;Mrs. Ellen Davis,Sturgis;Mrs.Chet Cedaholm,Vancouver,Washington;Mrs.Flora Cooper,San Francisco,Calif;two brothers Lee Rupe,Oreville,Calif;and Arthur Rupe,Sturgis. Mrs.Cooper was a member of the First Prebyterian church;of theSturgis W.C.T.U.;and the Degree of Honor.She was essentially a home mother,devoted with a strong devotion and fidelity to the family interest and the happiness and welfare of her loved ones.She was a woman of generosity and a supporter of all good causes;a kindly neighbor and a woman of high integrity and character.She will be greatly missed in the family circle and by her legion of friends.
