There was a large attendance of friends and neighbors,with Rev. Carroll D. Erskine of the Sturgis Prebyterian church officiating.Miss Marjorie Hampton presided at the piano. Mrs.Frank Huffman and Miss Ruth Shaw sand two duets.The casket was covered with a profusion of floral emblems. Internment was in the Bear Butte cemetery,under the direction of the F.O.Jolley Funeral Home.The pallbearers were Georg and James McNenny,Walter and Ernest Lamberton,Fred Froescher and Peter Hansen. Mr. Cooper was born January 1 1856 in Schoolcraft,Mich. He came to the Black Hills in 1878,and had for many years been engaged in the lumber business with his brother,the late Thomas Cooper. He was married to Flora Rupe in Sturgis in 1894,who with their four daughters,survive him.The daughters are,Mrs.R.D.Beckley of Kansas City,who was here for the funeral;Mrs.Samuel A.Coulthard of Burlingame,Cal;Mrs. Ferroll Onstott of Sturgis;and Miss.Bessie Cooper at home.There are six grandchildren and one sister,who lives seven miles north of Sturgis. Mr. Cooper was a devoted husband,father and honorable in all the relationships of life and was held in high esteem by his fellowmen.
