    Sturgis relatives of Maurice O. Johnson were notified last week that he 
had passed away at his home in Richmond,Calif;last Friday night,following an 
illness of considerable duration caused by a stroke,followingwhich he was 
hospitalized for some time,and had been reported to be feeling considerably 
improved.His passing was due to another stroke.
    He is survived by his wife the former Tille Karrels of Sturgis;three sons 
Howard Lewis ,who lives at Wall;Frank Herbert and Elmer Irving Richmond;one 
daughter,Helen, Mrs. Robert Schone,of Wall,and a number of grandchildren.Other 
survivors include two brothers,Arthur and Clarence Johnson,Sturgis;and two 
sisters Mrs.Harry Blair and Mrs.William Middlebrook of Sturgis.
    Mr.Johnson was born November 24,1894 in Bear Butte Valley,where he spent 
his early years.Following his marriage,the couple lived in the Nine Mile 
area.later moving to Wall and finally to Richmond,Calif;which has been the 
family since.
    No particulars as to the final rites have been received here.
