Alphabetical list of Posts, South Dakota Grand Army of the Republic, with names of veterans residing for a longer or shorter time in the state. CENTERVILLE Anson S. McCook Post No. 46 The records of this post date from 1883, with a complete list of officers, O. D. Hinkley being commander and A. J. Ayer adjutant. The department records state that the No. 46 was given originally to the Frank T. Blair Post at Waterbury, which was organized February 28, 1884; that this post existed from 1884 to 1887, when it was discontinued and the number 46 given to Post No. 46 at Centerville. There were 10 charter members. As the names of the officers of the so-called Waterbury post and the post at Centerville are not identical, it seems necessary to give both for the years from 1883 to 1887, the time when the Waterbury post ceased to exist.
