Y., May 2, 1850, and removed with his parents to Lake City, Minn., in 1856. In September, 1864, he enlisted in Co. A, Minn. Heavy Artillery, and served until the close of the war. In 1865 went into a machine shop at Lake City and remained in this business until he removed to this county. He arrived in Sioux Falls April 23, 1878, where he engaged in the farm implement business until 1895, since which time he has been engaged in the marble business. Jolly, good-natured, an agreeable business man and a good citizen are the principal elements in his make-up, and recognized by all who know him.
