        ASHTON. Pop 450. Spink county. An incorporated city on
the James river and the C M & St P Ry 9 miles n of Redfield the
county seat. Has Congregational and Methodist churches, 2 banks,
a hotel, an opera house, 4 grain elevators and water works. A
weekly newspaper the Chronicle is published. Land is worth $40
