The better part of a generation has been necessary for the population to adapt itself to the climatic conditions; animals brought from warmer and more humid climates require time to adjust themselves to the new conditions; and the success of agriculture and horticulture depend to a considerable degree upon securing acclimatized seeds and plants. This is especially true of certain fruit trees and corn. Through acclimatization dent corn, which in the early experiences of farmers was dependable only in the extreme southern portion, is now fairly dependable throughout the State.
