Organized 1907. Population 350. Missouri river terminus of Minneapolis & St. Louis R. R. A passenger and freight division. Has shops, roundhouse and extensive yards. Center of South Dakota livestock industry. 75,000 head of cattle shipped from Le Beau annually. Important Missouri river shipping point, with boat service between Le Beau and Pierre and Le Beau and Yellowstone river points. In natural gas belt, and has rich deposits of brick and potters' clay.
