D. Two miles south of Glenham, 1/2 mile west, 3/4 south, on the west side of the road. There is a large marker for the MERKEL Family. Smaller markers near the large marker are apparently for the following Merkel family members. 1. Emanuel 1909 - 1909 2. Solomena 1899 - 1899 3. Matilda 1896 - 1899 4. Mother - Dorothea 1871 - 1899 5. Nathaniel 1914 - 1917 6. John I. 1894-1922 Just to the south of the above six Merkel markers is one for: 7. Karen E. Merkel 1946-1946 (Death record shows born May 25,1946 died May 25, 1946) Two other markers for Merkels: 8. Fredrica Merkel Mar. 31, 1896 - April 14, 1921 9. Peter (Pete) Merkel 1904 - 1931 One marker for two children of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Eisenman 10. Alfred R. October 16, 1912 - May 15, 1917 11. William L. October 28, 1916 - Jan. 31, 1917 12. Large Marker for John and Solomia Schaffer. No dates on the marker. (Death record shows Solomia died August 6, 1926, age 72 years, 8 months, 18 days. 13. Christian Schaffer June 11, 1900 - September 15, 1901. Note: George and Catharine Merkel, twin children of Christian and Rosina Merkel born 1891 and died 1891, are buried in the southwest corner of the cemetery. Two old elaborate wrought iron markers leaning against the fence may have been their markers. Marion Travis Mobridge, S. D.
