Irving, 74, died Saturday at Union Hospital after being a patient for three days. He was the father of Mrs. Richard Novak of 120 Camelsback Road. Funeral will be 2p.m. Tuesday in the Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Shoemaker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from noon until time of rites Tuesday. Gedstad-Hines Funeral Home handled arrangements. Irving was born June 9, 1891 in Gayville, S.D. He was married to Josephine Gebhard in Milford Township, Brown County, June 9, 1916. She survives along with one daughter, Mrs. Novak and three granddaughters. Irving graduated from high school in Vermillion, S.D., and received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota, and master of arts at the University of Minnesota. He taught commercial art at the Hopkins High School three years, then was 32 years at the Eveleth Junior College. After retirement there he was principal at Hackensack schools two years. He resided since retirement at 1598 Charles Avenue, St. Paul. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Eveleth, Masonic Lodge, Minnesota Education Association, past president of the Eveleth Lions Club, and was treasurer of the March of Dimes and Red Cross there. Brothers and sisters surviving are Mrs. Fred Wilcox of Berkeley, Calif.; Mrs. Myrtle Arnold of Belle Fourche, S.D.; Mrs. Irene Greenway of Hawthorne Calif.; Roy of Phoenix, Ariz., and George of Detroit, Mich.
