Canterbury Dear Father & Mother I seat myself this sabbath morning to reply to your welcome Letter of May 23 whic came to hand some two weekes past and would have answered it esc this but want of time. it seemes to me I neaver had so Little time to write in all my Life, and this is all the apoligy I will offer for my delay. I once made it a point to answer all Letters I received immediately but I cannot do so now. My hand is still crippled with "that rising" of which I told you before, and I neaver worked so constant as now. I have made nearly four hundred Dollars since we moved here. I am still making $2.50 per day. Crops is not so good here this year as common, it has been too dry and yet there will be plenty made to answer every demand. harvest is just beginning. this Country, about now, is certainly one of the most beautiful, on natures green Earth. The air is pure and pleasnat, the grain fields just ripe unto the harvest and the fruit trees bending with their over burden beside the pure cool streams of water rushing down from the mountains. All together it would Remind one of some "Fairy Land" altogether too good for sinful mortals Like we but enough on this subject. turn over Well Grand Ma I have nothing strange to write to you. only the Death of Strahans oldest child. it died about 2 weeks ago. Amors health is much better this summer then it was Last summer and yet is not good. I have not heard from Ben & Rob Hendersons folks for some time don't know how they are doing. I want to write to them today we want to go and see the Last of August if we can. The friends here are well how as far I know. Julia & Milton are sick today, nothing cerious I hope. They have sick stomache with occasional vomiting, In this letter we will send you Andrews & Miltons pictures as we have neaver sent you Andrews before. We are Looking vary anxiously for both of your pictures and hope we will not have Long to wait. I will not write much this time, as I want to write some to Elisha we are getting along tolerable well, now Grand ma you would think I Looked quite old, if you was to see me setting here writing with spects on. well such is the fact. I have to use spects as I have told you before. I don't expect to stay here in Town Longer than the 1st of Oct.
