Dear Sisters and brothers, Father, Mother    I seat my Self this morning to 
try to wright you a few lines.  we are al well as common.  my health is better 
this winter then common. Cant wait to get a leter.  I want you to let us know 
if Mother cant wright.  it has bin so long since I heard from yo al I am so 
tired waiting for a letter.  Alice reseiv a letter from Susan Casen this week. 
 She spoke of Martha being marid.  did not giv the man's name she marid tha 
was al well she was at Unionville.  we have had a rany wet winter.  Crops look 
well. every thing is green and growing al winter   come over and see us this 
spring. see the foalks.  See how Calavenia looks no frost bitten hands.  wher 
a nuf of this. Florey Canterbury maried a Mr. Vann.  She has twins boys tha ar 
doing well  her Father _____the nuse. we reseived a letter from Eliza E and 
Bud a short time ago they was well.  I wood like to see you al a gane and 
talke face to face I cold interrest you more then this porly ritin letter tell 
me a bout the Childen and the names of Theny.  dont know how  Sarah R had this 
much do for all this time.  giv my lov to all the Childern a good sher for yo

72-03-17 March the 17th St Helena Napa Co Cal 1872

Dear Fater and Mother
I seat my self this Sabbath morning to anser your long look for letter.  it 
came safe a few days ago it gave grat satisfaction to her from yo all once 
more.  Sorry to her that yo and Father is so orley did yoo ever use terentine. 
 It is good fore the lungs and inward we kness both on the outside.  I take it 
al the time if I take cold I take turpentine and bath my brest and sids heat 
it to the fir go to bed it will not get anna worsed.  it is good for my liver 
I pore a teaspoonful on at only when I suffered so much last winter.  I kep a 
bottle of turpentine by my bed all the time and it  re leaved me so much I lay 
on my left side six or seven weekes.  my liver swolen as hard as a plate and 
as large it was the rhumatises in with my liver.  I never exspected to feal as 
well as I do know.
I still have rhumatism my liver is better I set up all day.  I wold like to se 
yo all and talk with you once more in this life.  I am satisfied this is the 
best climent in the world.  I had a hen Stold her nest the first of feburary 
laide a leven eggs and went to setting before I knew it tha was exsposed to 
rain she broke one hatch ten chickens yo see it is knot very cold  eggs dont 
freez hens lay all winter. a nufe of this we had a leter from Al___ Canterbury 
.  He was well and dooing well. whering is better he is pretty sharpe no one 
can cheat him.  he never went to school eney more he woodnot go he try to 
study some he is varie  stuct. he said he will marey he is as tall as his pa
