75-09-19 Bucklin MO Sept 19th 1875 to E Damrell from granddaughter Lizzie Nagel Dear Grandma I rec'd your letter in due time. was glad to hear from you, and would have answered sooner but expected Gusta and the girls down and thought I would answer by them. I am very much surprised and disgusted at pa, I think that he is doing very wrong. I am so much ashamed that I don't know what to say. It looks like spite work for there would certainly be but small portion if it was divided among so many. But I suppose, as all I can say will do no good, that I had better not say anything too much, as the least that is said is the easier mended. But I am really sorry, and ashamed to think that Pa had anything to do with it. You asked if we all got home safe, we had a better time coming then we had going. Abbie staid two weeks with us, then most of the time at George Nagels. The creek between us was up so that she could not cross. I think Abbie will write to you as soon as she goes up to Uncle Jo's. she told me that she would. I have not rec'd but one letter from her since she went back. she wrote that she found everything all right and felt very well satisfied with her visit. We are all well now accept Mr. Nagel. he has been nearly laid up for two or three weeks with asthma but is getting better now. Lora and Loudens wife were up here about 1 week ago. They seem to be getting along very well. I looked for Bens address but cannot find the letter. I will write and get it. Cynthia's is Colfax Whitman Co. W. T. Grandma there is not many persons of your age that can write like you can. I hope that you may be able to write to us these many years yet. Give our love to Uncle Ning and Aunt Theny and the children, and accept our kindest regards and well wishes for your future prosperity and happiness. As Ever your Granddaughter, Lizzie Nagel
