75-10-01 Oct the 1st 1875 Paris Monroe Co MO from S. A. Hunt(Elisha's daughter?) Dear Grand Ma I received your kind letter today and will not neglect to write any longer. when I got home I thought I wait until I got back from Uncle Jo's to wite to you and after I got back Addie Hunt, (that is Henry's sister) concluded to go to Hannibal right away and Porie went with her. they stayed three weeks. I sent your picture down there and had one taken from it. They are so near alike you can hardly tell them apart. I am glad you wrote about Uncle L F C family. what a pleasure it must be to them to have their Mother's picture to look at. If if I only had my mother's picture what a treasure it would be grand Ma I cannot give you Bens Addess. I will send you one of Cynthis letters that will give you her Address I will also write to her today requesting her to write to you and give you Bens address immediately and I know she will. We generally get an answer to her letters in two or three weeks from the time we write if she dont neglect to write. Cyntis has but three children. her youngest is seven years old. I have write to Ben a good many times but he never has wrote to me since he left here. all I hear from his is through Cynthia's letters. he sent all the rest a picture of his family but I never got any. I do not know why you said nothing about hearing from uncle Jo's Aunt Mary said she would write. it has been about six weeks since I was there and I supposed you had heard Aunt Mary said her or Uncle Jo one or perhas both was going to see you this fall. I supose he will give up his farm that was the calculation then the Idea was he could get out of debt quicker and perhaps save enough to buy him a small farm. he talked some of going to Kansas where Will is to look at the country there is a good deal of sickness here but mostly chills. The connection are well as far as I know. I will let the girls all read your letter. I have not seen Mary Jane since I came home. Henry was there once since I saw Christianna at church once. I have been to Abbys once. I am glad to hear Mary is getting along well and all the rest of the girls too. I have been looking for Pa down he thought he would be down in August but I have not heard from his since I was there. Grandma I did not stay half long enough when I was up there is seems almost like a dream to me. You know everything seemed strange to me at Pa's. it did not seem like home to me with so many strangers and the little ones almost grown. I mean ther_________as little when I was there last. it seemed more like home what little time we was all together with with you but Alas there was one well beloved and gentle voice missing even there. But it is a happy thought to think that we may meet him and all of our loved ones a better world than this. Grand Ma I would like to write on and tell you a great deal more but my sheet is full. I wanted to talk to a when I was there but I had no chance. I was thinking of getting him to let Ellen come a live with me but I was afraid it would not suit. perhaps I think wrong but I have always thought that Henry carried some hard feelings as Pa never has wrote a word to me since she went home but I know my own heart I always wished to see her do well and helped her all I could, if you can I would be glad if you would write to us as often as you can. tell Uncle Beall and Aunt Thena I wanted to write some to them but I can't the time. Love to all and yourself S. A. Hunt. Grand Ma I will send you one of Pories pictures. She got some when she was at Hannible. You have seen all the rest of my children. She will be ten years old next March. She is piecing her fourth quilt. She is a good deal of help to me. She reads well in the fifth reader. This from your loving grand Daughter, Abby Hunt (there are more things written all around the edge of the paper) I am glad you told me your birthday. I wish you would give me Grand Pas next time. that was one thing you _______did write in there. all our love to you. Dear GrandMa Uncle Jo came after I finished. he requested me to say to you that they are neary all chilling and will not be able to go up there. he says he wants you to come down. he says if you will, he will send for you & will pay all expenses. perhaps Henry will go if you will come. Uncle Jo wants you to write immediately
