78-01-06 Winters Yolo Co Cal Jan 6th 1878 to E Damrell from EE Norton Dear Grand Ma It has so long since I hear from you. I thought I would write to you. I do not exspect you to write as often as I should, but I am so glad a letter from you. the reason I have waited so long this time was to get our Photograph to send to you. the weather was Cloudy and we could not get them. we have got them and will send them to you all except my babi. the whoping cough was so bad in town we was afraid to take him. we will send his as soon as we can get it. We are all well and hope the same with you and all of our friends. We have had a vary dry winter so far and fear there will be a failier Crops this year, but there is plenty of time provided we have rain. The boys have come back from Humbolt. Andrew & Milton are at work. Bud is staying with us. he is about as usual in his mind. some times vary wandering in his talk. Pa is well but Ma has bin sick for some time. is siting up now little. Pa has got the texas fever now and is going next fall. him and the boys to texas, for my self I never espect to go. I do not like to move around. we have a good home here and are satisfied. Pa gets letters from Uncle Frank and he is going to texas. Well grand Ma I must tell you about two of your own Cousins that lives near us. Mrs. Susan Redic, her name was Dearing before she was maried. Mrs. Betsie T. Lawson, she is a sister of Mrs. Redic. We just found it out a short time ago they are vary wealthy. their children all grown and maried are members of the Baptist Church. Mrs. Redic is going to MO on a visit next summer. I am coming if we rais a crop. our wheat looks very well but is needing rain but still hope we will have plenty. I had a letter not long since from Aunt Polly in Oregon. they are geting along vary well. Uncle Wash's health is not vary good. Alice & Sam Marshall are well and gone to Colusa County on a visit. We are all Close together once more but to think of Pa and the boys agoing so far away. Pa wants Sam & Alice to go to texas. I donot know whether they will go or not. it has bin vary healthy this fall and winter in our part of the Country. this is Sunday evening and the Children are all talking and reading and the babi is shaking me and I can hardly write. Bud is talking a perfect streak about everything. his mind is not on any one thing a minute. as it getting late I will Close by giving my best wish to all enquiring friends, if you have any chance to send Susan Cason word tell her that I wrot to her and my letter came back so she must not blame me for not writing. except a large shar of love and respect for yourself.
