84-07-28 Dearing Lawrence County Ohio July 28th 1884 to Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Cason from James M and Lydia Dearing Dear Nephew and Niece we received your welcome and kind letter last week and was glad and overjoyed to learn that you were all well and that your Mother and our Sister was yet alive. we could hardly hope that She was Still living at Such an advanced age being 90 years old. we are all well and hope this may find you all Enjoying the Same Heavenly blessing. I was in West Virginia last week when this your letter came to hand and have Just returned home this Evening. I found your Aunt Polly Riggs alive but very feeble. Though She was better this morning when I left her. Jarriot is in very good health. he is 82 years old. I am in my 70th year and your Aunt Lydia is 65 years old and has not broken very much. her hair is black as a raven with a sprinkle of grey and lays in beautiful waves over her head. Polly Riggs has not a gray hair in her head please let your mother know that we are all alive and well. Your Aunt Patsy lives in Flora Clay Co Illinois. our children are all alive and well as far as we know. three of the boys lives on the farm with me and one lives in Ashland KY. one of the girls live 2 miles from Ironton Ohio one in Illinois and one in MO in the next letter I will give you their names and the number of our grand and great grand children. please answer Soon. we all send our love and best respects to all. yours ever James M Dearing and Lydia Dearing to M.
