Mccue Esq Staunton Va My dear sir - I now transmit to you all the information I have concerning the Boone and Miller family. My father's name was Jeremiah Webb - Daniel Boone was a cousin of my father's. Anna Boone, a sister* of Daniel Boone, also a cousin of my father, married William Winter, and had by him seven children. Henry Miller married the oldest daughter Hannah - a niece of Daniel Boone and a second cousin of my father. Nancy Winter (a sister of Henry Miller's wife) married in Augusta George Crawford - one of her daughters by Crawford married Harry Miller, one Jack Miller, one James Bell, one James Bourland, the fifth Franklin McCue {note added above line} (My Uncle-J.H.M.) {text resumes} sixth James Miller, seventh Peter Hangar, ninth Samuel McClung in Greenbrier, and one died single. William Winter was the 3rd, Elizabeth was the 4th, and great grandmother of Abraham Lincoln ** (I wish to ___ here that I did not vote for Lincoln) Your great grandfather Henry Miller died in camp*** in North River Gap, right hand fork, in 1796 - After one or two hunting visits to Virginia, a few miles from my home, they were all ___ in PA, with Daniel Boone, Henry Miller discovered iron ore in augusta and keeps the fact concealed until he secured the land and then established the furnace. This was the first and only place he lived in Augusta. Henry Miller's children: Rachel Miller married Col. Cameron. Elizabeth Capt John Lewis - Hannah James McDowell Moffett - Martha Capt John Estell - Samuel -Margaret Grattan, James married Elizabeth Moffett, Harry died unmarried - who Wm married I don't know - Samuel Miller's daughter Margaret married Andrew Warrick Cameron. Elizabeth married Harvey McDowell – the rest you know. James Miller (son of Henry) had 4 sons - George, Ozbert, Harry and Samuel. George married Margaret McCue, sister of J.H. McCue. , Jno McCue. Ozbert married Eveline Custer - Harry and Samuel never married. His daughter Sarah married David M. Kyle of Rockingham. James Addison Cochran and Gen Sam H Lewis married daughters of Capt John Lewis, who lived on the Cow Pasture - the rest of the relatives in Augusta I presume you are familiar with. Now in regard to the Boones - Daniel Boone left North Carolina in 1769 and returned in 1771, and took his family with him to Kentucky. He ran a salt furnace on Sandy River on Kentucky**** for a while; and being of a restless adventurous disposition, would not remain long in one place, but kept moving toward the frontier continually.
