Bedford Co., TN, deed book J, pp. 352-353: 352) Wren Carter to Daniel Johnston for 102 Acres This Indenture made this 17th day of June In the Year of Our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and 18 Between Wren Carter of Bedford County And State of Tennessee on the Part & Daniel Johnston of the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee on the Other Part, Witnesseth, that the Said Wren Carter for And in Consideration of the Sum of One Thousand And Twenty Dollars to him in hand Paid by the Said Daniel Johnston the receipt whareof [is] Hereby Acknowledged, hath, Given Granted, bargained Sold, aliened, Conveyed And Confirmed unto the Said Said Daniel Johnston his heirs and assigns forever a Certain Tract or Parcel of Land, Situated Lying and Being in the County of Bedford and on the Waters of Sinking Creek of Duck River Begining on a hickory And Sugartree Standing on the East Side of a branch And on the North boundary line of Wren Carters Tract Runing thence West One hundred Poles to a beech Thence South One hundred and Forty Poles to a Stake thence East Ninty Poles to a beech thence North 76 [degrees] 30 m East Forty Eight Poles to a Sycamore Standing On the West Side of Said Branch thence up Said Branch the Condition of this Line is such That Each Partey Are Entitled to the benefit of a Spring that the Line Passes through or Imediatly by thence North 17 [degrees] West Sixty Eight Poles thence North 9 [degrees] West Seventy Two Poles to the Begining, To Have and To Hold the aforesaid Land with all & Singular [--pg. 353--] the rights Profits emoluments hereditaments & appurtenances of in and to the Same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the Only Proper use and behoof of him the Said Daniel Johnston his heirs & assigns forever and The Said Wren Carter for his heirs Executors & administrators do Covenant & agree to & with the said Danl Johnston heirs & assigns that the before recited Land & bargained Premises Will Warrant & forever Defend against the right Title Interest or Claim of all & every Person or Persons Whatever ....
