This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Bob Meadows rmeadows@krl.org ==================================================================== Bedford Co., TN, deed book E, pp. 134-135: 134) Patton & Erwin to Wren Carter This Indenture made this 3rd day of March in the Year of Our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred And Thirteen Between James Patton & Andrew Erwin of the County of Buncombe and State of N Carolina of the one part And Wren Carter of the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee of the other part Witnesseth that for & in Consideration of the Sum of one Thousand Dollars to us The Said James Patton and Andrew Erwin in hand paid the receipt whareof we hereby Acknowledge Have Granted Bargained, Sold Allien Conveyed & Confirmed unto the Said Wren Carter his heirs and Assigns forever a Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate lying & being in the County of Bedford aforesaid and on the North side of the South fork of Duck river a part of a Grant for 5000 Acres Granted to John Gray Blount and Thomas Blount No of Grant 223 Begining on a beech & Sycamore on the North Boundary of the river in the Eastern Boundary of said Grant Thence West Two Hundred & Twenty four poles to a Stake in a Section line run through Said Tract by James Mitchell Thence North with said line to a beech Mitchells Section Corner, Thence East Two Hundred and Twenty four poles to Two beeches in the East boundary of Said grant another of the Section Corners made by Mitchell, Thence south one hundred & [Forty ?] Two poles to the begining Containing by Calcul- ation Two Hundred Acres be the Same more or Less [--pg. 135--] To Have and To Hold the aforesaid Tract of Land with all and Singular the rights profits emoluments Hereditaments & appurtenances of in & To the Same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Wren Carter his heirs and Assigns forever and we the said James Patton & Andrew Erwin for Ourselves Our heirs Executors administrators and Assigns do Covenant & agree to and with the Said Wren Carter his heirs and Assigns that the before recited Land and bargained premises we will warrant And forever defend against the right Title Claim Interest or Demand of all and Every person or manner of persons whatever In Witness whareof we the Said James Patton and Andrew Erwin have here unto set our hands and affixed Our Seal the day and year first above Written Signed Sealed & Delivered In presents of us ..........
