This Indenture made the first day of 
August in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand 
Eight hundred And Eighteen between Andrew Erwin 
of Augustia Georgia of the One Part & Elias Yates of 
Bedford County And State of Tennessee of the other Part 
Witnesseth, that the Said Andrew Erwin for and 
in consideration of the Sum of Six hundred Dollars 
To him in hand Paid the receipt whareof is hereby 
Acknowledged Hath Granted bargained Sold alliened 
Conveyed And Confirmed unto the Said Elias Yates 
His heirs And Assigns forever a Certain Tract or 
Parcel of Land Situate Lying and being in the 
County of Bedford State of Tennessee & on the waters 
of the South fork of Duck River & is Part of a 5000 
Acre Tract Granted from the State of North Carolina 
To John Gray & Thomas Blount by No 223 
Begining on a Beech Wren Carters North West Corner 
of his 200 Acre Tract Runing thence north One 
Hundred & forty three & a half Poles to an ash Iron- 
Wood And dogwood Thence East Two hundred and 
Thirty Seven Poles to a White ash & Sugartree Saplin 
in the Head of a hollow thence South One 
hundred & forty three & a half Poles to Wren Carters 
North East Corner thence West with his line 
Two hundred & Thirty Seven Poles to the Begining 
Containing Two hundred & Twelve Acres be the Same more or less 
176) To Have And To Hold the aforesaid Tract of 
Land with all the rights profits Emoluments heredita- 
ments & appurtenances to the Same belonging or 
in any wise appertaining to the only Proper use and 
benefit of the said Elias Yates his heirs and assigns forever 
& the Said Andrew Erwin for himself his heirs Exes adms 
And assigns doth Covenant to & With the Said 
Elias Yates his heirs & assigns that the before 
Recited Lands And bargained Premises he will 
Warrant & forever defend against the right title 
Claim or Interest of all & Every Person or manner 
of Persons Whatever In Witness whareof the said 
Andrew Erwin hath hereunto Set his hand &
