Bedford Co., TN, deed book D, pp. 388-389: Robt C Cannedy to Jno P McConnell & Geo M Martin ( 388 Know all men by these presents that I Robert C Kennedy of the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee for and in Consideration of the Natural Love And affections which I have to John P McConnell And George M Martin of the County of Davidson And State aforesaid as well as for the further Consideration of five Dollars to me in hand paid by the said McConnell and Martin at or before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whareof is hereby ackno- wledged Have Given & granted & by these presents do Give & Grant unto the Said John P McConnall & George M Martin their Executors administrators & assigns a Certain parcel of Land Containing four hundred acres of Land be the Same more or Less lying & being on the South Side of Elk River Bedford County & lying on the South boundary of Samuel Edmonsons Eighty Acres Beginning at a Sugartree and Ash on Samuel Edmunsons South boundary line Thence South three hundred fifty eight poles Crossing a Branch to a hickory & Black Walnut Thence East one hundred & Seventy nine poles Crossing The Creek to a White Oak Cherry tree & two Dogwoods Saplin Thence North three hundred & fifty Eight poles to Two Red Buds ash & [Ellumine ?] a Corner to Sam'l Edmonsons Tract [--pg. 389--] and with his line west one hundred and Seventy nine poles Crossing the Creek to the Beginning which was Granted by the State of N Carolina to Robert Kennedy the 17th day of December 1794 To Have and to Hold The Said Tract of land unto them the said John P McConnell & George M Martin the said McConnall & Martin to be mutual & Equal Shares on said Tract of Land in point of [quallite ?] & Equally of Soil water & Timber & likewise unto their Executors administrators & assigns for ever And the said Robert Kenneday for himself his Executors administrators & Assigns unto the Said John P McConnall & George M Martin their Executors administrators & Assigns against the Claim of him the said Robert Kennedy his Executors & administrators & heirs Shall & will Warrant & forever defend by these presents In Witness whareof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this 20th day of February one thousand eight hundred and nine Signed Sealed & Delivered in the presents of Joel Payne ..........................Robert C Kennedy Jno Moore ....Jurat
