Meadows to John Wood Bill of sale Know all men by these presents that I Ephraim Meadows--in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars, the receipt of which I hereby Acknowledge do hereby bargain, sell and convey to John Wood and his heirs forever One tenth part of the following negroes--viz--Franky--Amy--Bob--Silvy--Treny--Jensy--Minerva, Mat and Milley--which negros (sic) are the property of the heirs of one Michael Meadows, deceased, subject to the life Estate of one Jane Meadows, the Widow of the said Michael, and I do hereby Guarantee to the said John Woods. the aforesaid negroes, and will defend to him against all claims Arising from me or any other person to the same.
