This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Steve Carson carson@siggraph.org ==================================================================== TSLA, Bedford County, Tennessee Deeds, Book HH, Page 295, 4 February 1939 John Meadows to Thomas Lipscomb Know all men by these presents that I, John Meadows, of the one part and Thomas Lipscomb on the other part both of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee that whereas I John Meadows one of the heirs of Michael Meadows deceased have this day for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and Seventy two dollars and fifty cents to me in hand paid by the aforesaid Thomas Lipscomb the Receipt of which I hereby Acknowledge have Bargained, sold, and transfered (sic), all the right, title, claim and interest which I have in and to the whole family of negroes now ten in number belonging to Jane Meadows during her natural life or Widowhood, said negroes being willed to Jane Meadows by her husband Michael Meadows deceased. In Testimony of which I have affixed my name and seal this fourth day of February eighteen hundred and thirty nine John Meadows Acknowledged 4th February 1839 State of Tennessee, Bedford County-- Formally appeared before me William D. Orr. clerk of the County Court of Bedford County Court John Meadows the within named bargainor with whom I am personally Acquainted, and Acknowledged that he executed the within conveyance for the purposes therein Contained.
