Witnesseth that the said James Patton of Bedford County for and in consideration of the sum of the sum of Seven hundred and twenty six dollars to Him in hand paid by the said James Patton and Andrew Erwin before the sealing and Delivery of these Presents, Hath Started, Bargained, Sold, Aliened infuffed? Conveyed and Confirmed and by these presents doth Grant, bargain, sell alien, enfeoff?, Convey and Confirm to the said James Patton and Erwin their heirs and assigns forever a Certain tract or parcel of Land Situate lying and being in Bedford County on Straight Creek and the Garrison Fork of Duck River, being part of Grant Number 255 issued by the State of North Carolina to John Gray and Thomas Blount and Conveyed by the said Patton and Erwin to the said Patton bearing Date 2nd day of February 1809. Beginning on the North bank of said fork of Duck River in the upper line of a five thousand acre Survey held by virtue of Grant Number 221 at three Sycamores, running from Thence East with the Northern boundary of said Grant Number 225, Three hundred and fifty two poles Crossing said Middle Fork and Straight Creek to an ash and Dogwood being the North east corner of Grant Number 221, thence with the North boundary line thereof three hundred and fifty two poles to the beginning. Containing by calculation four hundred and eighty four Acres be the Same More or less with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land to the said James Patton and Andrew Erwin their heirs and Assigns forever and the said James Patton for himself his heirs Assigns he doth hereby Warrant and forever defend the above described Tract or parcel of Land to the said James Patton and Andrew Erwin their heirs and Assigns and against Any Claim or Claims whatsoever a hereby the above mentioned land and premises might or may be affected or encumbered Contrary to the intent and Meaning of these presents in Witness Whereof to the said James Patton hath Herewith Set his hand and affixed his day and year above written.
