This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Bob Meadows rmeadows@krl.org ==================================================================== John W. & Mary McGimsey to Moses Payne, Bedford Co., TN, 4 June 1821 Bedford Co., TN, deed book P, pp. 337-338: 337) John W McGimsey to Moses Payne This Indenture made & concluded this fourth day of June one thousand eight hundred and Twenty one between John W McGimsey & Mary McGimsey his wife of the Town of Shelbyville in the State of Tennessee of the one part & Moses Payne of the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said John W McGimsey & Mary for and in consideration of the sum of one hun- dred & ninety dollars to them in hand paid by the said Moses the receipt where- of is hereby acknowledged have relinquished quit claimed and transfered and by these pre- sents do relinquish quitclaim and transfer un- to the said Moses Payne his heirs and assigns forever all their right title interest and claim in and to one hundred and Twenty two Acres of land lying in Bedford County on the South or Barren fork of Duck river & bounded as follows to wit Beginning at Wren Carter's South East Corner on two Sycamores on the North bank a said fork in the Eastern boundary line of Grant no 223 thence crossing the river South two hundred poles to a Sugar tree in J Ewell line thence west fifty six poles to two [blazed ?] Sugar trees Z Paynes Corner thence [South ?][ten ?] degrees west [??] poles to the middle of the river thence up the river with the meanders [thence ?] North [Forty ?] degrees East 26 poles thence [??] de- [pg. 338]grees west 102 poles to a buck & [hawwood ?] in [??] [??] line thence East with his line one hundred & thirty two poles to the beginning the same being the tract which Shrewsberry Payne lived upon which said interest and claim of the said John W and Mary his wife to the said tract of one hundred and twenty two acres is their undivided one sixth part of said tract of one hundred and Twenty two Acres to which they are entitled as one of the heirs of said Shrewsbury Payne deceased being Twenty Acres and two six parts of an Acre more or less to have and to hold the said undivided one sixth part of said one hundred and Twenty two Acres or Twenty Acres and two six parts of an Acre to the said Moses Payne his heirs & assigns to be and remain to the only proper use benefit & behoof of him the said Moses his heirs & with all & singular the profits emoluments heraditaments apper- tenenes of in & to the same belonging or in any wise pertaining against the John W & Mary his wife & those claiming in by through or under them but against the claim or claims of no other person or persons or those claiming in any other way whatever in testimony where- of we have hereunto set our hands & seal the day & date first above mentioned signed sealed & delivered in the presents of us [Thomas ?] Cannon .......................J W McGimsey (seal) [Jno ?] C [More ?].......................Polly McGimsey (seal) State of Tennessee ) Bedford County ....)
