Bedford Co., TN, deed book G, pp. 400-401: This Indenture made this 22nd day of (400 February in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and fourteen between Zebediah Payne of the County of Bedford and state of Tennessee of the one part, and Daniel Johnson of the County and state aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of Eight hundred dollars to me in hand paid by the said Daniel Johnson the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained, sold alliened conveyed and con- firmed and do by these presents, grant, bargain, sell, allien convey & confirm unto the said Daniel Johnson his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situate and lying in the county of Bedford and on the barren fork of Duck River begining at W. C. Baliards corner on the River bank on a white oak and beach, thence south thirty six poles to Baliards other Corner on a white oak, thence East one hundred and thirty two poles to two beaches and a sugartree passing J. Ewells corner at eighty Poles, thence north thirty degrees west one hundred and twenty poles to the middle of the south fork of Duck river, thence up the river with the meanders thereof north sixty degrees east thirty six poles, thence north thirty degrees west one hundred and two poles to a beach and Ironwood in W. Carters line thence west with his line fifty six poles to a beach Dogwood and hornbeam, thence south one hundred and sixty eight poles to the Begining, Containing, by estimation one hundred and nineteen acres, be the same more or less to have and to hold the afforesaid tract of land, together with all and singular the rights profits emoluments hereditaments and appertenances of in and to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Daniel Johnson his heirs & 401) assigns forever and I the said Zebediah Payne for my heirs executors administrators and assigns do covenant and agree to and with the said Daniel Johnson his heirs and assigns, that the before recited land and bargained premises I will warrant and forever defend against the right title claim Interest or demand of all and every manner of persons or person's whatsoever.
