(Note: The clerk put Shrewsberry Payne as the person who acknowledged the 
execution of the deed, while, of course, it should have been recorded as Wren 
Carter who did so--or someone acting as his attorney in fact.)

506) Wren Carter to Shrewsberry Pane 2 Acres
This Indenture made this Tenth
day of January in the year of Our
Lord one thousand Eight hundred and
Fourteen Between Wren Carter of
The County and State of Tennessee of
The One part and Shrewsberry Pane of
The Other part Witnesseth that for &
Inconsideration of the Sum of Fifteen
Dollars to me in hand paid by the said
Shewsberry Payne the receipt whareof is
hereby Acknowledged Hath Granted Bargained
Sold alein Conveyed and Confirmed and
do by these presents Grant Bargain Sell
Alien And Convey and Confirm unto the
said Shrewsberry Payne his heirs for
Ever a Certain Tract or parcel of Land
Situate lying And being in the County of
Bedford and on the south side on Baren
Fork of Duck River Begining at
Shrewsberry Payns North West Corner on Wren
Carters south Bounday line in said Grant
Thence runing Two Poles to a Beach
thence North Eighty degrees East Forty Eight

Thence south Fourteen Poles to an ash
Corner in Shrewsberry Paynes north bounday
line thence North to the begining
Containing Two Acres and sixty four
Poles be the same more or Less To
Have and to hold the aforesaid Tract
of Land, Together with all & Singular
The rights profits emoluments Hereditaments
and appurtenances of in and to the
same belonging or in any wise apper-
taining to the only Proper use and behoof
of him the said Shrewsberry Payne his heirs
and assigns forever and the the said Wren
Carter for myself and my heirs Executors
administrators and assigns do Covenant
And agree to and with the said Shrews-
berry Payne his heirs and Assigns that
The before recited Land and Bargained
premises he will warrant & forever
defend against the right Title Claim
Interest or demand of all and every
Person or manner of Persons whatsoever
