John Baker to James Samples, Bedford Co., TN, 2 April 1818

(Note: The last name of one witness is recorded as Gell in this deed, but as 
Green in two others between these parties executed on the same day. To be 
faithful to the idea of a verbatim transcription, I have transcribed it as 
Gell, rather than Joseph V. Green. In the clerk's certificate at the bottom of 
page 482 is the partially circled number 13. I've rendered that as 13 in 
parentheses. The strings of hyphens represent lines drawn by the clerk. As 
usual, the strings of periods are space holders and do not appear in the 
original.)

This Indenture made this 2d day of April in
The Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred &
Eighteen between John Baker of Bedford County and
State of Tennessee on the part and James Samples of
the County of Bedford & State of Tennessee on the other Part
Witnesseth, that the Said John Baker for & in Consider-
ation of the Sum of One hundred & fifty Dollars to him
in hand paid to the Said James Samples the Receipt
Whareof is hereby Acknowledged, hath given Granted
Bargained Sold aliened Conveyed & Confirmed unto the
Said James Samples his heirs & assigns for ever a Certain
Tract or parcel of Land, Situate lying & being in
The county of Bedford and Near the Town of Shelbyville
Begining at Peter Chilcuts South east Corner on the
Suck Camp Road thence north Twenty nine Poles
with said Chilcuts line thence East Twenty Seven & 8/10
Poles Thence South to Said Road fifty one poles
Thence with Said Road thirty four poles to the
Begining Containing Six & three fourth Acres
To Have and To Hold the aforesaid Land
With all & Singular the Rights, profits emoluments
Hereditaments and appurtenances of in and
To the Same belonging or in any wise apper-
taining to the Only proper use & behoof of
him the Said James Samples his heirs and assigns
482) Assigns forever and the Said John Baker for his heirs
Executors and administrators doth Covenant & agree
To and With the Said James Samples his heirs &
