Know all men be these presents that I Martha Thompson hath bargained and sold unto Thompson Thompson both of the County and State aforesaid for valuable consideration four Negroes (sic) to wit: one Negro Woman Named Rachel & child Hardy, one Negro boy Named Handy and one Negro Girl named Unity. I do by these presents bind myself to defend the said Negroes to the said Thompson Thompson his Heirs or assigns forever against all lawful claims. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of July 1810. Martha Thompson Witness: John Thompson Jurat Joseph Thompson State of Tennessee Bedford County.
