Martha Thompson to Thompson Thompson
Bill of sale
State of Tennessee Bedford County. Know all men be these presents that I
Martha Thompson hath bargained and sold unto Thompson Thompson both of the
County and State aforesaid for valuable consideration four Negroes (sic) to
wit: one Negro Woman Named Rachel & child Hardy, one Negro boy Named Handy
and one Negro Girl named Unity. I do by these presents bind myself to
defend the said Negroes to the said Thompson Thompson his Heirs or assigns
forever against all lawful claims. In witness whereof I hereunto set my
hand and seal this twenty fifth day of July 1810.

State of Tennessee Bedford County. March Session 1813. I, Thomas Moore,
Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of the County aforesaid do
hereby certify that the Execution of the within Bill of Sale from Martha
Thompson to Thompson Thompson was proved in open court by the oath of John
Thompson and ordered to be recorded.

Given under <illegible> at office this 29th day of March 1813
