Wells deed to Elijah M. Patterson January 6th 1868. For and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to me paid in two notes as follows - One note for one hundred dollars due January 1st 1869 - and one other note due July 1 1869 each bearing interest from date. I have this day sold and do hereby sell, transfer and convey to Elijah M. Patterson Four Acres of Land included in the following described Lot No 20 of the Wilson Coats division and on the west end of said Lot No 20, which lot is bounded as following, viz. on the south by Lot No 17, on the east by lots 8, 9 and 10, on the west by Lot No 19, on the south by the Shelbyville Branch Railroad. To have and to hold the same to said Elijah M. Patterson, his heirs and assigns forever. I covenant with the said Elijah M. Patterson that I am lawfully seized of said Lot of Land and have a good right to convey same is unincumbered. I furthermore covenant and bind myself, my heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said four acres of Land against lawful claims of all persons whatever.
