MARION John F. Marion applied for revolutionary pension while living in Bedford County, Tennessee, in 1832. He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, October 14, 1760. While living in Mecklinburg County, North Carolina, he enlisted in June, 1779, in Captain William Alexander's and Captain Samuel Martin's company, Colonel William Folk's North Carolina regiment. During the battle of Eutaw Springs his horse was killed under him and he was wounded in his right leg. After ten months' service he re-enlisted in Captain James Simons' company, Colonel Wads Hampton's regiment of light horse in which he served eighteen months. After the War he moved to the Moravian settlement in North Carolina where he enlisted in a regiment of North Carolina troops raised for the protection of white settlers in what was then called the Cumberland settlement, now Middle Tennessee. He moved to Williamson County, Tennessee, and later to Bedford County, Tennessee, where he died.
