Matthew Martin, Sr., applied for revolutionary pension while living in Bedford County, Tennessee, in 1831. He was born in 1763 in Charlotte County, Virginia, and died in Bedford County, in 1846. He served in the Virginia line and was the youngest of eight brothers who served. He served under his brother, George Martin. He married Mary {or Sallie) Clay.
