Ransom’s Will I, William K. Ransom do make and publish this my last will and testament. Item 1. I direct that all of my just debts shall be paid out of the first money that shall come into the hands of my executor. Item 2. In accordance with a promise made to my deceased son, Joseph A. Ransom, in his lifetime I will and devise to my grandson, Charles Ransom, two hundred acres of the west end of my farm, being the west end of the lands conveyed to me by my son William Ransom in exchange for lands this day conveyed by me to him for him and his heirs forever. But if he should die leaving no child, or children or the representations of such living at the time of his death, then my executor should sell said land, and collect the proceeds, and divide the same equally among my grand children then living share and share alike. I appoint my son, William Ransom testamentary guardian of my grandson Charles Ransom until he arrives of age. Item 3. All the rest of my estate, whether real, personal or mixed, I will and devise to my beloved wife Sarah Ann Ransom for and during her natural life as a token of my love and affection for her and the industry and energy she has always shown in the management of our family affairs ever since our marriage. Item 4. At her death, I will that all of my land and personal property be sold by my executor, on the usual times, and the proceeds, with any money or notes on hand, my executor will divide and pay out to my grandchildren their line share and share alike. Item 5. For reasons satisfactory to myself and which I do not mention here, I will and bequeath that the shares so bequeathed to my grandchildren William Jenkins, James Jenkins, Oscar Jenkins, and Addie May Jenkins is only for use during the life of each of them, and if at their deaths or the death of either of _____, they should leave neither child or children, then the share of the one so dying should go to the surviving brothers and sister; and if all should die without leaving child or children surviving them, then their share or shares to be divided equally amongst my remaining grandchildren, that may be living share and share alike. Item 6. I direct that a suitable moument be erected over my remains and the remains of my beloved wife, to be paid out of my estate, to be selected by my executor, trusting completely in his judgement in making proper selection. Lastly, I appoint my son, William Ransom, sole executor of this will, or any cause he cannot act, then I appoint my son-in-law, B. __ White to be and act as the executor of this my will. Frierson Edmond Cooper I make this codicil, My beloved wife Sarah Ann Ransom is dead, therefore my wish is that Item 4 shall take effect at my death and shall be executed as theirin ____ted by my executor at my death. White co-executor with William Ransom to execute this will, and direct that no bond shall be required of them for the purpose of their duties as such executor and I confer on them full power to sell all of my property, directed to be sold by Item 4th at public or private sale for cash or on a credit as to them may seem best, and pay proceeds when collected as directed by my said will, this January 10th 1896. K. Ransom as proven and ordered to be entered of record by said court at its March term 1896 as appears from the minutes of said court and from the original will now on file in my office.
