Melvin John VanGelder

Funeral services for Melvin John VanGelder, of Big Sandy, age 73, were held

Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10 a.m. at Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home. Burial followed at

McRae Chapel Cemetery. Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home of Big Sandy was in charge

of arrangements. 

Mr. VanGelder passed away Saturday, Oct. 13 at Cox Medical Center South in

Springfield, Mo. He was born March, 28, 1934 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to the late

John VanGelder and Johanna VanHouton. He was a livestock buyer. 

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hai VanGelder; two daughters, Jennie Hanson,

of Rock Rapids and Joanne Elbers, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sons, Kevin

VanGelder, of Murfreesboro and Scott VanGelder, of Rogersville, Mo.; two

brothers, Tom VanGelder, of Grayhull, Wyo. and Jake Koelman, of Perham, Minn.; a

granddaughter, Grace Taylor and 13 nieces and nephews
