He enlisted in 1777 in Capt. Anthony Sharp's Company, Ninth North Carolina Regiment. He was in the battles of Eutaw Springs, Monmouth and Stoney Point. He was discharged in 1780 having served four full years. He moved after the War to Bledsoe County. Tenn. where he died March 22, 1828. It is said that he was 100 and some years of age and the oldest man who ever lived in the County.
