He enlisted at Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia, in July 1780, or earlier. He was in Captain Adam Wallace's company, Colonel Hawes' Virginia regiment. He was also in Captain Sigismund Stribling's company under Major Smith Snead. He was in the battle of Guilford Court House under Major Ridley and in the battles of Camden, Ninety-six, and Eutaw Springs and in a number of skirmishes. He was discharged at Salisbury, North Carolina, January 17,1792, and his discharge was signed by Captain Stribling and Major Snead. Robert Everitt died in May 1827 in Blount County. He married July 2, 1783, Margaret Lockhart. She was born in 1758 as she was 68 years of age in 1826. She died in Blount County in February 1832 or 1853. Their children were Caty Everitt, born 1789; Agnes Everitt, born 1791; William .Everitt, born 1793; Jean Everitt, born 1795; Ann Everitt, born 1797; Margaret Everitt, born 1900; [sic] James Everitt, born 1805; John Everitt, born 1805. Of the foregoing Caty Everitt married Charles Walker in 1808; Agnes or Nancy Everitt married Isaac White in 1813; Jean Everitt married Baron T. McConnell.
