He served in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia troops. He lived in Pennsylvania when he enlisted in 1776 under Capt. Armstrong. He enlisted in other states later. After the War, in 1784, having married he went to housekeeping in Rockingham County, Va., and later moved to Blount County. He was given a land warrant for 100 acres for service as a private in Virginia troops. In 1837 he wrote from Lauderdale County, Ala., requesting that his pension be transferred to that county.
