He was born in Culpepper County, Va., Oct. 8, 1764. He lived for a time in Nicholas County, Va., where he was drafted in 1780 under Capt James Tutt, he thought, although he was not sure that was the name. He paid a substitute, William Noll, $500 in Continental money and a new rifle to take his place. He died in Blount County after 1840.
