He was born in Shenandoah Valley, Va., Feb. 13, 1761. He enlisted in the Virginia troops in 1778 and first drew pension on the invalid list in Virginia in 1803. He lived in the Shenandoah Valley for 23 years and states that his father was a member of the Virginia Legislature. He lived in Greene County, Tenn., Knox County, Tenn. where he lived 25 years and then moved to Blount County.
