He was born in Ireland in 1747 and died in 1837 in Blount County, Tennessee. He served in N. C., troops. When he came from Ireland he lived for a time in Pennsylvania where his son, David, was born in 1781. He married Mary Johnston, born in 1758, died November 12 1845, who applied for pension in Blount County in 1844. She was a sister of Joseph Johnston. Among their children were David, born in Pennsylvania in 1781; died Blount County, Tennessee, in 1864, who married Jane Johnston.
