It was also rumored on the streets that Courtney had been drowned in the river near that place, but we could hear nothing definite. Courtney lived in Knoxville, and is a veteran river and steamboat man. Chronicle. We are very sorry to learn of the sudden death of our worthy and highly esteemed fellow citizen, Mr. Daniel Wine, who has been a resident of this place for upwards of twenty years. As a friend and citizen there was no better. He was a good, moral, upright man, ever looking to the interest of his country and friends. He leaves a wife and eight children to mourn the loss of a kind father and husband. They have the sympathy of their friends and relatives in their bereavement. W. Rockford, Tenn. May 17, 1878.
